The award was conferred by B V Papa Rao, Advisor to the Telangana government. It was received by Mithali Raj’s parents on her behalf, as she was not present on the occasion.

As per the latest ranking, he jumped 22 places to his career-best rank of 83. This is also the best rank that any Indian has achieved in the ATP singles chart since Somdev Devvarman touched a career-high of 62 in July 2011.

Germany top FIFA rankings, Brazil second

In the international friendly matches that were played last month, Germany had lost 1-0 to Brazil and drew 0-0 with Spain. The nation with 1533 points still has quite a lead over Brazil, which is ranked at the second position with 1384 points.

This was followed by an exemplary performance by Indian shooter Shreyasi Singh, who shot her career-best score to clinch the gold medal in the women’s double trap final. Singh beat Australia’s Emma Cox to take the top spot.

Sivalingam defeated England’s Jack Oliver by lifting a total 317 kg (114 kg + 173 kg). Oliver won Silver with a total lift of 312 kg (145 kg + 167 kg).

Commonwealth Games 2018: India finishes third in medal tally

India with a final haul of 66 medals including 26 gold, 20 silver and 20 bronze finished at the third place. Australia stood first with 198 medals including 80 gold, 59 silver and 59 bronze followed by England with 136 medals including 45 gold, 45 silver and 46 bronze.

The collection ‘Vakhar’ engages with larger and more immediate human conditions.
Yashaschandra was selected for this 27th edition of the award by a high level Chayan Parishad Selection Committee, presided over by former secretary general of Lok Sabha Subhash C Kashyap.
